Many rural and regional NSW families doing it tough after more than a year of natural disasters and a pandemic will receive much needed help thanks to a partnership between Lions Australia and NSW TrainLink.
Travel vouchers totaling $1,100 have been donated to Lions Australia following NSW Trainlink’s commitment to donate one dollar’s worth of travel for every staff member who completed their People Matter Employee Survey late last year.
Pete Allaway, NSW TrainLink Chief Executive met with Lions Australia N2 District Governor Maxine Helmling at Canberra Station on Monday 24 May to officially hand over the cheque for the travel vouchers.
“We are delighted to accept this donation and will make sure the vouchers go to those most in need. These vouchers will really make a difference for those struggling to even afford to get to where they need to be going or even just to have a nice break to visit family and friends after what’s been a really dreadful 18 months,” said Maxine.
Lions Clubs have a proud history of volunteering in disaster and emergency relief, medical research and community service, and NSW TrainLink said they are pleased to be playing a small part in helping their efforts.
