Lioness Club of Mareeba…Fidget Blankets for persons with Dementia/Alzheimer’s
This project is to help residents of an aged person’s home in Mareeba. The purpose was to construct ‘Fidget Blankets’ as a tactile experience for the residents who have Dementia or Alzheimer’s as they need to fiddle or fidget with something such as an infant does with a security blanket or toy. Our Lioness members have all donated the bits and pieces, bibs and bobs and gather together for sewing afternoons. Members who can’t sew provide lovely goodies for afternoon tea. Our club relished the fellowship that this project provided whilst making a substantial offering of Fidget Blankets to the residents of the home.
