Travelling to Newcastle

Air – Newcastle Airport (at Williamtown) is a major regional airport located approximately 30 minutes drive north of the city centre. Many direct flights are available on a daily basis from Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Airport transfers can be arranged by various means including scheduled bus services (Port Stephens Coaches direct to Newcastle CBD terminus) or hire car or car rentals. Rail – Newcastle is part of the New South Wales City Rail network. There are frequent return services daily from Sydney. For CityRail timetables and fares visit www.cityrail.info  Interstate & regional NSW rail connections via Countrylink trains to/from Broadmeadow station where there is bus interchange for transfer to CBD area. For CountryLink timetables, fares and online bookings visit www.countrylink.info

Road – Those travelling from the south, the M1 freeway from Sydney will have you arriving in Newcastle via the Link Road to the city in just 2 hours, or from the North via Pacific Highway, turn left coming off the Hexham bridge over the Hunter River. Those coming from Northwest via NewEngland Highway can now use the new Hunter Expressway from south of Singleton through to Newcastle Link Road to the City.

Accommodation in Newcastle

Conventioneers are required to arrange their own accommodation. The beachside city of Newcastle at the mouth of the Hunter River Valley has a wide range of accommodation. To assist in selecting accommodation locations, a table of Newcastle accommodation providers is sorted according to their proximity to the convention venue and those near the convention transport route are highlighted green on the listing (see explanation in the Getting Around/Transport section).
