- The 2019 Lions Youth of the Year is Hannah Bowden from WA! Congratulations, Hannah!
Hannah is a Year 12 student sponsored by the Busselton Lions Club and is already achieving great things and making a real difference in her community.
Hannah is hoping to International Relations and Economics and possibly sees a career as a diplomat in her future.
My name is Hannah Bowden and I am currently in Year 12 at Georgiana Molloy Anglican School (GMAS).
I am very grateful to the Busselton Lions Club for their sponsorship for Youth of the Year. I grew up on a farm and attended primary school in Beverley, Western Australia before moving to Busselton at the beginning of high school. I love playing sport, travelling and learning about cultures and languages from around the world.
My main goal is to graduate from Year 12 this year, then go to university studying International Relations and Economics. I hope to work as a diplomat in the future, maybe one day within the United Nations. I have been fortunate to have had many opportunities to pursue areas I am passionate about, and believe strongly in the value of education. This has driven much of my career aspirations to enable others to have greater access to education.
I am completing my WACE this year, studying ATAR Economics, Mathematics Specialist, Mathematics Methods, Human Biology and English Literature. Last year I also completed my Certificate II and III in Business Studies.
I have been fortunate to have had several opportunities to travel and meet many different people on programs such as the Global Leaders Delegation, Oxford Tradition and Country to Canberra’s Power Trip. I am very grateful to have had these amazing experiences and gained various perspectives on many issues.
I am passionate about sport and have been privileged not only to play, but to coach. I have voluntarily coached tennis for 5 years and netball last year and this year. It gives me great joy to watch the players develop in their skill and love for the
