MD 201 congratulate our 2016 National winner of the Peace Poster Contest, Casey on winning a Merit Award at the International judging of the Contest.
Casey was sponsored by the Melbourne Chinese Lions Club, District V1-4. This was indeed a great honour for Casey as well as wonderful news for Australia, in our Centenary year, and a first Merit Award winner for District V1-4.
Approximately 600,000 children from 60 countries participated in this year’s Peace Poster Contest. For the final judging at International level, the posters were narrowed down to 116 posters. Based on creativity, originality and portrayal of the theme, “A Celebration of Peace”,
Australia’s National winner was chosen as one of 23 Merit Award winners. Casey will receive US$500.00 and a certificate of Merit from LCI, as well as a plaque and certificate as the National Winner. Well done Casey.
When asked to describe her poster Casey said “The poster is an expression of how I feel about peace, what the keys elements are to the future of peace. In order to bring about a new era of world peace, we need to have humanity and compassion, we need to embrace our differences and celebrate different cultures in a unified world”.
As well as art Casey’s other interests are, music, sport, reading, Chinese language, sewing and knitting. We congratulate Casey and wish her all the best for the future.
