MD201 Membership Development Introduces "Pride in Growth"

Following decisions by the Council of Governors, two Multiple District 201 MERL Seminars have been held recently. The first in Brisbane (Feb 2008) where 'Pride in Growth was launched as the umbrella title for matters associated with Membership, Extension, Retention and Leadership. The second was held in Melbourne (Sept 2008) where the Pride in Growth program was reviewed and amended. At this seminar the New Club Development Consultants PDG Russ Connolly and PDG Bede Long also gave an in-depth presentation on how they are able to assist in the formation of new clubs and train the Guiding Lions who would be charged with mentoring the new clubs.

The aim was to provide training and assistance to Lions and subsequently to clubs within their District, State or Territory in all elements of MERL development.

We have now equipped each of the State Membership, Extension and Retention Coordinators, the State Leadership Chairmen, and two representatives of each of our nineteen districts with material that will see them able to present on all facets of MERL and on each other's behalf.

The feedback evaluation forms revealed participants had in the main found the seminars beneficial and worthwhile. This therefore augurs well for development growth with the Multiple District.

The MD Chairmen listed below and myself are available for consultation and as well can provide, where appropriate and within budget, hands-on assistance, to supplement the work of the district, state and territory representatives.

Much of this material was produced in PowerPoint form, so is therefore ideal to use in presentations. In most cases the material is a living document and will be fine tuned as circumstance may from time to time apply.
