Lions Clubs across Western Australia, in the Lions District known as MD201W1, are celebrating the organisation’s Centenary by giving back to their communities. Some key projects are highlighted below.
City Of Perth sundial unveiling – 7 June
The City of Perth Lions will unveil their refurbishment to the iconic sundial in the Supreme Court Gardens at 5.00pm, Wednesday 7 June 2017.
The sundial was originally constructed and gifted to the City of Perth on the 25th anniversary of the City of Perth Lions Club.
The Perth Foreshore has recently undergone a major facelift and the sundial has been refurbished and relocated as a special Lions Centenary Legacy Project.
Dalwallinu Creative Play Park
On Wednesday 31 May 2017, the Dalwallinu Lions Club unveiled their Centennial Legacy Project – a new playground at Richardson Park.
The park upgrade, which took three years to complete, was funded by grants from the local council and money raised by the club itself.
Wanneroo Lions Club contribute to kindergarten playground and sensory area
Wanneroo Lions Club has contributed to the construction of a new kindergarten playground and sensory area at the local primary school, which will be unveiled on June 10.
The club has provided financial assistance as well as materials used in the construction. The sensory area is designed to help some of the school’s students who are visually impaired.
Lions of Western Australia Centennial Celebration
The Lions of WA will hold a joint event on Friday 10 June 2017 to celebrate 100 years of Lions Clubs International. The event will be held at the Pan Pacific Hotel, with special entertainment provided by the South Perth Lions Big Band.
