The Lions National Council has developed a proposal for an Advisory Board, through its Long Range Development Committee to ‘Enhance Multiple District Leadership’. The Lions Advisory Board (LAB) elected by the delegates at the National Convention, will assist the Council by guiding long term projects and supporting the Council with strategic advice.
Unlike the Council, the Lions Advisory Board will serve for a term of 4 years so that it can provide continuity and support to each successive Council.
This concept will be provided to Lions delegates at the Townsville Multiple District Convention in 2018. If adopted, the delegates will have the opportunity to elect the first advisory board members at that Convention.
What should I do?
- Find out more: The proposal is being introduced at Lions District Conventions in 2017. Lions members can familiarise themselves with the concept by reading the materials on this website. Please contact Executive Officer Rob Oerlemans if you have any questions or comments. Questions and answers will be progressively updated in this FAQ over time.
- Consider standing for the LAB: In the event that the delegates in Townsville agree to the proposal, we would like to implement it right away. If you are a Lion, (or know a Lion) with experience in directorship, senior management or governance, please consider nominating for the Lions Advisory Board. The board will run on a tight, business like framework, to assist members to manage their participation with other commitments. For more information, please look at the Position Description here.
I would encourage all members to find out more about this exciting proposal that can lead our organisation into its next, successful century of service.
