Beware of Conventions In The Ordering of Awards

Conventions can rob you of valuable lead-time in the ordering of awards.

The ALF Trustees are all required to attend convention. We have the AGM to attend, voting for changes to the Trust Deeds if required, voting for Trustees as their terms expire, manning the display booth to answer your questions, and so the list goes on.

This means, of course, that Treasurer Damian is not at home to bank your cheques when they arrive and forward the award application to Awards Coordinator.

When you consider that the Trustees may also take the opportunity to have their annual break around convention, it can mean that nothing happens for at least a week and maybe longer. The awards are manufactured in Tasmania, and the 4 weeks requested as the minimum lead-time can easily be reduced quite dramatically due to these absences, and this places unnecessary stress on all concerned.

So, please bear this in mind when you are determining which deserving Lion, or person you will nominate to be honoured with an ALF award. Place your application as early as you can so that the Trustees don’t have to contact you with the bad news that the awards that you require can’t be delivered in time for the presentation.

Continue to support YOUR Foundation as you have done so well in the past, but PLEASE get your applications in early to avoid disappointment, particularly around Convention time.
